Other acts include *insert names here*. With fundraising in mind, buckets were passed back and forth the table, hoping to get funds from attendees of the Open Mic Night, who were gracious enough with their money and support. It was a successful night and a fun session for the team to simply relax and enjoy.

Design And Construction
In the workshop, Pat and Fergus continued their work on the construction making by creating a mock-up of footing joint to test out the lamination of the structure. This particular process was to test out the best method of construction, one way or another.

Klara proceeded to buy wood.

Fundraising
With their feminine appeals, Katy, Sunita, Kawther and Tolani managed a cake sale throughout the bays of the studio, which was selling like hot cakes, with Kawther's homemade brownies and Sam' cupcakes.

Entry #03; 20th October 2010

A brief meeting was held between the members of the team at a bay in the studio of Matthew building, appointed as the official bay for the Crux team project. This assembly was merely for the purpose of discussing the progress of each member's ongoing work and to discuss further the itinerary of the next day's member's duties.

Design And Construction
The definition of joints for the shelter was scrutinized by Patrick Chiara, who with helps from Lyle McCance, created a 1:1 scaled mock-up joint that would be a detailing to a level which could easily explain the construction of the structure.

Byrne attended to drawings of plans and sections on Google SketchUp and AutoCAD, figuring out the details to eliminate faults and glitches of the structure.

The materials for the construction were slowly piling with Svobodova obtaining the steel shoes that would be the base of the structure, after much consideration and comparing of funds, durability and suitability between products and different sources.

Fundraising
O'Donnell and Jess Little with own incentives, were hopeful to obtain big funds from professionals which they were acquiring from their own personal connections and contacts. Tolani Onajide, on the other hand, confirmed a £100 worth of funding from an architecture firm which happens to be owned by her own father. This such prominent progress was a big step of the project at which made a mental boost to the team.

Flyers for fundraising events were posted on various boards, hoping to appeal to students to attend and support the funding of the project. To give more awareness to students, Facebook was used as a medium to send out virtual invitations for these events to students of University of Dundee, inside the architecture course and out.

Documentation
Ongoing process of documentation regarding photographing was in process that captured every action taken by members regarding the project. Melling and Stephanie Else fabricated the design of the blog for the project, a platform to record steps taken of creating the shelter from the beginning to the end.

Entry #02; 19th October 2010

Design And Construction
A visit to the workshop by a number of the group was meant to discuss certain joints to construct the shelter. With much help by the workshop manager, Lyle McCance, discussion was ended with a very define type of joint for construction.

Advised by McCance, a plan to make a 1:1 scale of mock up resembling the joint was also in discussion and was attempted in the workshop. This was meant to give clearer view of the proper construction of detailing of the structure and having a practicality to the membes on the construction.

Fundraising
The posters for the Open Mic Night and the charity event of leg waxing were conjured to be handed out to students and prospect interests, which are handled by Katy Snodgrass and Sunita Bhawal.

Increasing the fundraising of the shelter in every mean possible, Constantina Kyriakou attempted to collect money by taking a bucket and simply panhandling students, a seemingly act of desperation but provingly to be a progress in the fundraising.

Documentation
The presentation of sections and plans that were made upon a1 sheets were scanned and saved which will then be utilised as part of the process works of the helter.

John Melling was in charge of the logo design, which he complied by creating a big C which is followed by the letter 'rux' simply stating the name of the shelter, The Crux. This design will be thoroughly used in every aspect of the project, becoming a brand for the project.

Entry #01; 18th October 2010

The project of shelter initialized with the selection of one shelter design by Aoife O'Donnell. Acting as athe head designer of the team, O'Donnell presented the design as an A-shaped shelter, resembling the roof of houses lieing on the corner of the site which is set to be the American garden area within the University of Dundee Botanic Gardens. The simplistic and concept of a portal was simply intriguing as a final design in whole. The group of the shelter project was randomly selected with every person of the group attempted a design of shelter for the site, making every single member familiar with the site.

The group was assembled to brief on the project and its definite timeline of process. One of the main point of discussion of the day was the name of the shelter and subsequently, the project. Various names were brought up to attention; gAtewAy, Triad, A, Delta, Waki, Vortex, Portal. The names were argued to mainly accentuate the shape of the shelter (A, Delta) while others tried to focus on the purpose which acts as a portal/shelter, whereas it lies on a pathway. Through humble democracy, the name that was chosen was defined by Dictionary.com as a vital, basic, decisive, or pivotal point; The Crux.

The group discussion was also joined by lecturers of the Architecture School led by the Year 2 Leader, Carol Robertson who acts as supervisor. Throught he discussion, inputs were considered within the team to brand the shelter to a higher level and to fundraise.

Design And Construction
The head designer, O'Donnell finalised the design with a scaled model of 1:20 with a finalised clear vision of the construction of process of the shelter, with sections and plans already drawn on CAD. David Byrne also helped in visualising the shelter to a better scale by drawing on Google SketchUp.

The design of the shelter, on the other hand was altered slightly with the centre height stripped down to 3 metres, reducing the length of timber required.

Klara Svobodova assessed the costs of timber required for the construction of the shelter and collected prices and damages from various sources and settled upon one timber company namely *insert company name here*

Fundraising
The funds require to support the construction of the shelter was heavily discussed and was brought up as one of the most obstruction of the project in whole. Every suggestion was debated and weighted as a possibility to raise the fund.

Joseph Holmes and David Byrne participated in an awareness campaign that was planned to raise money by having their legs waxed, simple and painful act of attraction to appeal to students that could benefit for the funds, alongside a bake sale/tea and coffee stand which is planned to be due on Friday. Other events include Open Mic Night that will be held on Thursday starting promptly at 7, FIFA Tournament with date to be announced planned to be in the Matthew Building lecture theatres.

Documentation
Various methods of documentations, focusing on the internet media are justified. Pages on the internet such as Facebook page and blog entries are to name a few of the beginning of brand development. This meant to aware people of the project which is then benefit to the fundraising of the project.
